One of our long term objectives is to turn Socibuild into a kind of “community sandbox” to enable motivated groups of people, who want to pioneer new and better ways of living, with the land and raw materials they need to build their own community along with legal advice on how they can most closely realise their vision while also complying with the laws and regulations of the locality they plan to inhabit.
Through providing the initial financing and advice for community projects, and eventually profiting through the real estate appreciation that successful communities produce, Socibuild intends to eliminate a major barrier that many people, who would like to start new societies, encounter: namely, a lack of resources and support. Someday, we would like Socibuild to evolve into an organisation that can help the founders of new communities turn their visions into reality.
For the time being, however, we’ve decided to start the “Your Community” blog where anyone is welcome to publish articles about the kind of community they’d like to inhabit.
What would be your ideal community?
What would the houses look like? Would there be private gardens, public spaces or both? What would people grow in their gardens? How would the gardens be designed? What kind of activities would people engage in? Sports? Theatrical Plays? Dances? Group songs? Book Clubs? Meditation? Informal Social Gatherings? What kind of social norms would your ideal community have? What kind of meals would be prepared? How would children in your community be reared?
If you have a vision for creating a better community and a better way of life, or any views about the kind of community you’d like to inhabit, or of changes or improvement you’d like to make to your existing community, feel free to contact us and submit a guest post to Socibuild’s “Your Community” blog. We’d be happy to consider it for publication.
